Local libraries

Every year I seem to end up buying something for myself before Christmas. This year, I decided to join my local public library ($11 non-City residents annual fee). I tend to use the academic libraries in my area more frequently than public libraries (though I’m not a student and have no borrowing rights anywhere) but the public library offers databases that I can’t access outside of the State Library.

I tinkered with Library Lookup to set up a link for the City of Sydney iPac but couldn’t seem to get it to work as it appears that they have disabled searching by ISBN.

As Jessamyn noted, the State Library of NSW will begin free wifi access tomorrow. Good for me, not so good for Jessamyn when we visited last week. I recently purchased an AirPort card so I hope to try it out sometime this week. Fingers crossed that wifi will also include access to the library’s databases.
