One of the things I like doing the most while I’m on holidays is visiting art galleries. Japan was the only country on my last trip where I didn’t visit any, which I regret since I’m such a fan of ukiyo-e , and we missed “Images du monde flottant” while in Paris too. One of the biggest highlights of my last trip was Massive Change at the Art Gallery of Vancouver. Visually stunning and thought provoking, it opened the day we left Canada so we rushed to the gallery to see it in the hour before leaving for the airport.
I am looking forward to seeing the exhibition of the Hugo Boss Prize at the Guggenheim (previously won by one of my favourite artists, Matthew Barney), and an exhibition of Japanese prints at the Art Institute of Chicago. I’ll miss The Gates!
Until then, it’s a race to the finish line. 5 days of work, two committee meetings, two board paper reviews to go.
