IFLA supports the Information Commons

Via Open Access News, IFLA has released a statement on Promoting the global information commons -

IFLA advocates a global information commons through which all people will be enabled to seek and impart information.

I am very pleased to see this statement, as the Information Commons is a topic I am deeply interested in (see also: my 2004 paper on the topic at the ALIA conference). The statement is focused on the access and equity side of the concept, and aims to support communities and open access.
