I just realised that I haven’t mentioned my visit to the new City of Sydney Customs House Library yet. It has a bit of a Seattle Public Library feel to me - it’s beautiful, it’s busy, but it’s a little difficult to actually use. Instead of being one level like the old Town Hall library, the Customs House library is over three floors. It’s very hard to actually see the collection from the stairwell, and a massive atrium in the middle of the building makes navigation annoying. Still, it is my only source of Village Voice and New York Times, so I shall still be a regular vistor.
