The good thing about RAILS was that I think I’ve finally hit on a new avenue of research to pursue. For a while, I’ve been thinking about what direction to head in. I’m not particularly interested in most of the research interests in Australian LIS schools at the moment. I’m not into informaiton seeking, or the semantic web, or human-computer interaction (at least, where my own research is concerned. I don’t mind reading such research though). And recently I’ve been thinking I should reacquaint myself with political science. At RAILS, someone mentioned information policy and it was a bit of an ‘aha’ moment, since I’ve previously studied public policy, information commons, and I’m interested in sustainability and advocacy. Isn’t it great when two fields merge so nicely.
