Despite my recent money saving travel tips, we’ve just booked a trip to Singapore in mid-January for a family trip. This much travel is bordering on hectic, even for me. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Asia, apart from visiting Japan last year, I was last in the region when I went to Thailand in 1990.
I’m hoping to visit Arab Road for fabric and trinkets, the Singapore Night Safari and Little India. The food should be a highlight.
Hope you’ll have a good trip to Singapore. Besides visiting the tourist attractions, do you plan to visit some of the public library branches? Have a look at the new National Library building as part of your tour itinerary. And maybe library@orchard in the heart of Orchard Road shopping belt as well (where I’m based).
Hi Isaak,
Yes I definitely plan to visit the National Library, I’ve heard many good things about it. Your library sounds fantastic, especially comics@orchard!
Night Safari is an excellent choice. If you want to have food like the locals do, try “Hawker Centers” in the HDB housing estates (cabbies should be able to recommend a few). Have a good trip.
Oh yah. The comics@orchard is quite a crowd puller for the library. It’s one of the ways for us to bring non-users to the library. And also those who haven’t been to the library for quite some time. While they are in the library browsing through the comics, we hope that they’ll also move on to reading our extensive fiction collection or the rest of the collections in the library. Anyway, do drop me a mail if you do come by library@orchard. I’ll be more than glad to bring you on a short tour of the library.
