Technology, smarter than we think

Technology is smarter than we think. It always has a knack of dying in threes, which is pretty smart. The last couple of weeks have been frustrating, technology-wise. Our digital camera malfunctioned a couple of months ago, necessitating repairs that would cost more than a new camera. So, we bought a new one.

Yesterday, a strange popping sound came from the computer, followed by an acrid smell - the smell of the power supply blowing up. So, we bought a new one. I spent the rest of the day on the floor, surrounded by tower cases, DVD-R and CD-ROM drives, hard drives, ribbon cabling, and a box of screws moving parts from one computer to another.

Then the phone started getting some terrible interference from the TV (which too, is aged and slowly dying). By this time, I was seriously thinking of going off-grid , getting a rotary telephone and a typewriter.
