An article at the Chronicle of Higher Education today talks about the pitfalls of interviewing for jobs where there are internal candidates. It quickly falls into rant territory, which is a shame because it’s a topic that otherwise should be covered more often.
Example -
It all starts with the search committee. Beware if it’s filled with people who have no campus authority, such as untenured faculty members, librarians, nonacademic administrators, or anyone hired only a few months ago.
