But I don’t plan to buy one just yet. My 4-year-old G3 iBook is doing just fine for the moment, and I’m never one to buy 1st generation products. This is probably a purchase for mid 2007, when I’m hoping they’ll introduce a smaller size. Apple, my laptop bag only fits a 12.1″ laptop. I don’t want or need a 15″ screen.
In December I was faced with the choice - wait for the new iMac and deal with first generation problems or get the baby I have now.
Am very very happy with my decision - a few people on the Appletalk forums are jumping up and down about buying a iMac two weeks ago not thinking that a new one would be released so soon but IMO this is the ‘finished’ version of the iMac and they are a speed machine.
So mid-2007 is a perfect time to upgrade and it is kinda scary to think about what they may be including in their ‘books then!
It is all sooooo exciting!!

There always seems to be complaints about new models on the forums. My iBook got a massive speed bump a couple of weeks after I bought mine, but I’ve been happy with it all along (except for a major reed switch problem that caused several trips to servicing in the first year).
The other thing I’m waiting for with MacBookPro is for software to be ported (not that I buy much but I would like to know it’s available) and ensuring that linux distros are ready, especially Ubuntu. I’m planning for a dual boot system.
The current iMacs are dreamy. I wish I had one!
