My virtual places

So, I’m back on Twitter, despite what I said earlier. Why? I’m doing some new work and wanted to share, but not necessarily on my blog at this stage. I also wanted to chronicle some of the things I’m learning right now, in lieu of more formal diarising like that in The Artist’s Way (which I bought but haven’t yet started reading!). So add me if you want, and I promise to at least not self-destruct (ie delete myself) immediately this time.

I’ve also been updating my MySpace page, which I don’t use all that much except to communicate with my brother, but that in itself has been enlightening - it’s amazing just how much he and his group of friends use MySpace to communicate.

What I’ve also found fascinating is how MySpace can be used to find new music. For example, I linked to a musician that I like, and in return, other artists have used the first musician’s friend list to reach out and link to me. So it’s a great way to host a kind of recommendation system within MySpace. Could this be done with books? Libraries? Of course!

My husband has also just started using Flickr and MySpace (del.icio.us is next!) and has created two profiles which he is using to reach out to artists both to make connections for his music and to find artists to talk to for his PhD. It’s quite interesting to watch how it all happens.
